Donuts with chocolate are a delicious treat enjoyed by many people. There are several ways chocolate can be incorporated into donuts. Here are a few popular options.
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 large eggs
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Vegetable oil, for frying
For the chocolate glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
3-4 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as it can result in dense donuts.
Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 1 hour to allow it to firm up.
Once chilled, lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/2 inch. Use a donut cutter or a round cookie cutter to cut out the donuts, and a smaller cutter for the center hole.
Place the cut donuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rest for about 10-15 minutes while you heat the oil.
In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use enough oil to submerge the donuts.
Carefully drop a few donuts into the hot oil, being cautious not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Repeat the frying process with the remaining donuts and donut holes.
While the donuts cool slightly, prepare the chocolate glaze. In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and glossy. If the glaze is too thick, add a little more milk. If it's too runny, add more powdered sugar.
Dip each donut into the chocolate glaze, allowing any excess glaze to drip off, and return them to the parchment-lined baking sheet.
Optional: You can also sprinkle some chocolate shavings or colorful sprinkles on top of the glazed donuts for added decoration.
Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before serving.
Now you have delicious homemade chocolate donuts ready to be enjoyed!
