Gobhi Manchurian

Gobhi Manchurian is a popular Indo-Chinese dish made with cauliflower florets. It's a delicious and flavorful dish that combines the crunchiness of cauliflower with a tangy and spicy sauce. Here's a simple recipe to make Gobhi Manchurian

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium-sized cauliflower, cut into florets

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch

  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce (adjust according to your spice preference)

  • 1 teaspoon vinegar

  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder

  • Salt to taste

  • Vegetable oil for frying

  • Spring onions, chopped (for garnish)

  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

For the sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 1 capsicum (bell pepper), finely chopped

  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (adjust according to your spice preference)

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce

  • 1 teaspoon vinegar

  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar

  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, ginger-garlic paste, soy sauce, tomato ketchup, chili sauce, vinegar, red chili powder, and salt. Add a little water at a time and whisk until you have a smooth batter.

  2. Dip the cauliflower florets into the batter, making sure they are well coated.

  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or wok for frying. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated cauliflower florets and fry them until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

  4. In a separate pan, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, and green chili. Sauté them until the onions become translucent.

  5. Add the chopped capsicum (bell pepper) to the pan and stir-fry for a couple of minutes until they become slightly tender.

  6. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, tomato ketchup, chili sauce, vinegar, sugar, and salt. Add this sauce mixture to the pan and mix well with the vegetables.

  7. Add the fried cauliflower florets to the pan and toss them in the sauce until they are well coated. Cook for a few minutes on low heat to allow the flavors to meld together.

  8. Garnish with chopped spring onions and fresh cilantro.

  9. Serve hot as an appetizer or as a main course with steamed rice or noodles.

Enjoy your homemade Gobhi Manchurian!
